Here's a picture of Ann Newman that I found online. From the ages of the children (who I expect are Annie Elizabeth and George Andrew) I think this photo would date to about 1862.

This is a pretty well known photo of Joseph Newman and Elizabeth Hughes Newman.
This is Elizabeth Hughes Newman who outlived her husband by 30 years and ended up living with some of her children in Holladay until she died in 1907.

?I have a family question?
Who took care of the orphaned GIBSON children?
George Washington GIBSON died 1871 at Duncan Retreat, Ann Elizabeth NEWMAN died 1875 in Salt Lake City, they left six children. The oldest Ann Elizabeth was ages 16, George Andrew was 14, Sarah Jane was 11, Mary Ardillacy was 9, Joshua Newman was 6, and James William the youngest was 4 years old.
This family lived in Grafton. The NEWMAN grandparents lived in Salt Lake City. There were several NEWMAN uncles in Salt Lake area and many grown Gibson half brothers and sisters in southern Utah and Nevada.
The oldest daughter Ann Elizabeth GIBSON married Charles Harvey BALLARD a week after her mothers death. Five years later George Andrew GIBSON is found living with Ann Elizabeth's family in Grafton. (1880 census record)
Both George Andrew (m.1883)and Sarah Jane (m.1882) married into the John Wood Sr. family of Grafton, UT.
Mary Ardillacy(m.1883)married an ISOM of the Grafton area.
Joshua died in 1887 at Grafton when he was 10 years old, three years ofter his mothers death.
Your grandfather James William GIBSON the youngest married in Nevada in 1892.
So do you have any idea who took in these orphaned children?
